Deep golden yellow core; nutty, burnt caramel, butterscotch, dried mandarin peel and a touch of sour cream on the nose; lemon and toasted nuts on the palate with nuances of cream; medium acidity; short finish. The owner of this bottle was quite disappointed with the performance of her much beloved Leeuwin Art Series Chardonnay but seriously, after almost 20 years in slumber, I thought this New-World Chardy had excellent ageability and was drinking nicely albeit its shortcomings. If the intensity of its flavours are stronger, it would really match some of the similarly aged Meursault I have tasted in the past.
