Nabi Muhammad Cartoons…

For those who have missed the infamous muhammad cartoons published in the Jyllands-Posten, click here.

Personally, I think it is not ethical to publish articles of this nature in the newspaper. Religion is a delicate matter. This time it could be our Muslim friends, next it could well be Christians, Jews or Buddhist! Just think about having Jesus in compromising positions with Mary drawn by cartoonist. Or better still, Muhammad and Jesus holding hands with bombs on their heads? There are boundaries which, in my humble opinion, shall not be crossed. Yes, you can publish anything and everything you want. But if your loved ones are on the chopping board, I doubt anyone would be daring enough to do so.

And Sarawak Tribune, a 61 year old English Daily in Sarawak, Malaysia, repeated the folly. Imbecile, naive or plain stupid? Probably all of them 😀

  1. The cartoons weren’t really funny. However, the reaction of the Muslims are over the top to me. They demand an apology from the Danish government but they don’t realise that unlike the authocratic countries they live in, Western governments don’t control the press. I think it’s fine if they want to boycott Danish goods. It’s their money and choice but the violence that they have demonstrated against unrelated people & embassies just goes to highlight why Muslims are perceived by others as violent people.

Anyway, I for one have not any care for religion. I doubt I’ll live to see the day when men can think for themselves and act with the good of fellow men in their hearts and minds without a need to refer to a superior being though. Sorry if this offends anyone but that is my honest opinion. 🙂

  2. You know what? My prophesy came true. The Iranians have just launched a competition asking people to submit cartoons on the Holocaust. This is a cascading disaster which knows no end. Sigh.

  3. Can’t agree here. Freedom of expression trumps all. What about those Arab newspapers always publishing crude and offensive characatures of Jews? Who protests that?

This is just a cynical attempt by the dictatorial govenments (supported by the US, no doubt) to further restrict the freedoms of their people, this time using religion as a pretext.

Lenin didn’t get too much right, but he had one rather profound comment.

“Religion is the opiate of the masses”.

Western governments do control their press. Stay tuned.

  4. The constant need for the Muslims to blame the Jews for everything bad that happens to them makes them look really stupid. If you believe them, the whole world must be manipulated by the Jews and they (Muslims) are the only people who knows it. Any Muslim with an iota of intelligence should be embarassed about the constant paranoia about the Jews.

  5. Yes, you’re right in ‘Contribution to a Critique of Hegel’s Philosophy of Right, Introduction’.

Not that I’ve read the book (but I will 🙂 ), just a quick google.
