Opened this about 4 hours before dinner with the bottle lightly re-corked (to allow minimal ingress of oxygen). Poured myself a glass to check the wine and it was painfully perfumed with cassis and dark berries. By the time I aerated this with a Vinturi at dinner time, its dark inky ruby-violet hues that was slightly bricking on its meniscus exhibited ripe dark cherries and a prominent spicy, peppery (think white pepper) aroma that persisted until the very last drop was poured. Secondary aromas were just beginning to show/evolve but the stuffed portobello mushrooms I had (no pictures here unfortunately) brought out the earthy tones and coffee grounds in the glass. On the palate, it had an alluring silky texture and plenty of dark fruits with good acidity, and medium to medium plus finish. Still youthful with well integrated tannins. Worth buying and needs a bit more time in the cellar for the complexity to shine here – that is if you can keep your hands off them. This is the only bottle I have – probably time to get more. Hahaha. Btw, did you notice the label on the bottle? How apt!
