Sandihurst Pinot Noir 2007, Central Otago, NZ

Sandihurst Central Otago Pinot Noir 2007
Dark ruby core with a bright cherry rim. This is the third time I’m tasting this wine and the aromas just leaped out of the glass on first pour every single time! Strong, concentrated dark fruits and mixed berries jam on the nose with streaks of vanilla and cedar. A little spicy start on the palate, tart cherries, dried 川芎, chinese liquorice roots, good acidity and medium to medium minus finish. Unfortunately, the body and structure didn’t quite match the beautiful aromas. I shouldn’t have opened this so soon but this is the only bottle of red I don’t mind uncorking right now. Not a bad accompaniment to Mr. Taber’s “To Cork or Not to Cork“.
