Brunello di Montalcino 2004, Argiano, Toscana

I love love love (well-made) Brunello but this bottle was a little disappointing somewhat. Dark ruby red with a bricking rim, the wine exhibited strong notes of crushed blueberries, liquorice and mocha with just a touch of acetaldehyde. The tannic grip on the finish was quintessentially italian and made me crave for parma ham and salami di cinghiale. But no, I wasn’t impressed with this offering from Argiano this time. I think I’m being picky.
