Life is Hell

Jean-Noel Gagnard Batard-Montrachet 2003Robert Groffier Chambertin Clos de Beze 1997Imperial Treasure Super Peking DuckThat was what SC said over dinner yesterday while we tucked into the perfectly roasted Peking Duck (and various dishes) while savouring the Batard-Montrachet 2003 by Jean-Noel Gagnard which was still a little young (for me) but drinking well with a slight bitter finish. The 97 Clos de Beze needed some breathing time in the glass but showed excellent form, better than the last one I had, with a more pronounced cherry profile. Didn’t take any notes (again!) but suffice to say that both were well-made and did their job as an accompaniment to a dinner with good friends.
