2008 Querciabella Chianti Classico, Toscana, Italy

Querciabella Chianti Classico 2008, Toscana, ItalyDeep dark ruby, bright cherry rim and a clear meniscus. Beautifully lifted ripe blueberries on the nose, ripe dark plums and an underlying tone of oak/vanilla. Earthy, chocolatey tones greeted the palate first, followed by layers of dark berries and cherry flavors. Grippy but ripe tannins. Med acidity; med to med+ finish. Blended with 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, but it’s still quintessentially a Chianti bursting with Sangiovese, a variety I fell in love with so many years ago…
