as sinful as krispy kreme

Goodness in a wrapKuih Koci
This
is a pretty popular dessert item in Malaysia, particularly amongst the ethnic Malays. Basically it’s a steamed soft glutinous rice dough wrapped in banana leaves with a sweet gula melaka (palm sugar) and grated coconut filling. The most important element for me is the layer of salted coconut cream (they call it Santan in Malaysia) outside the mochi like kuih. A smart play of salt and sugar don’t you think? And they have been around since my parents were little kids!
