Deep, almost opaque garnet-ruby core with a light ruby-orange rim. Floral, macerated red berries, dried mandarin peel and leather on the nose. Dry, quite robust, sappy and tannic on the palate with quite a fair bit of wood, black fruit flavours and a touch of leather. A nice sweetish aftertaste surfaced, giving this an extra brownie point to counter its youthfulness. Medium plus acidity and length. Not quite ready to drink yet but there’s an appealing freshness in this wine.
Crimson-red core with a bricking rim. Lots of sediment in the glass as I didn’t have the means to decant the bottle. Enticing lifted aromas of rose petals, sweet ripe cherries with tarry and earthy tones. Floral. Very good acidity that balanced the ripe black fruits on the palate. Strong but ripe tannins with a medium+ length. Drinking very well at this age but can hold for a long time still. Now if only I could have some tartufo or quaglia arrosto to go with it 🙂 Nothing like a good Barolo to celebrate the end of a semester in “ulu” Lincoln ae?
