a surprise souvenir
the old vines in Douro
are absolutely a pleasure to visit and I’m amazed at how resilient and fruitful they still are. It’s exciting to see that the new generation of winemakers and viticulturists are still trying to preserve their national heritage and not ripping these indigenous vines out unnecessarily. The top pic is probably a Rabigato (white variety) and the bottom pic should be a Touriga Nacional (red variety).
a somewhat light dinner at aquapura
the food was decent but nothing too memorable. Like AAK said, by the time I get to Spain, I may have forgotten what I’ve eaten at the restaurant had I not taken any pictures. The white wine from Douro was good though – the touch of Semillon in a blend of local indigenous grapes lifted the aromas and flavours of the wine as a whole with some good acidity and freshness.
