Pale straw colour with a slight greenish tinge. Prominent green bell peppers and fresh grapefruit peel on the nose. Plenty of citrus notes on the palate with a smooth, rounded texture. Refreshing and crisp acidity for a bottle that’s considerably “old” by NZ standards. Medium finish. Excellent Saturday afternoon drink with the Panang curry (in a can) cooked with some chopped tomatoes, onions and chicken thigh. One of my pod-mates happened to make some naan this morning and the warm, soft and fluffy bread really soaked up the gravy. Not the best pairing I’d admit but I didn’t feel like drinking beer you see 🙂
Pale straw-yellow colour. Fresh lychee, white asparagus, and grassy on the nose. Ripe lemon or citrus flavours with notes of lychee and surprisingly, a touch of dried chinese liquorice sweetness surfaced. Medium to medium minus finish but good acidity here. A refreshing drink after a long day!
It’ll be interesting to pitch this against their sauvignon blanc in another bottling (that I liked), which is probably 50% more expensive. Haven’t seen this on the shelves in Singapore yet, and probably never will given the price point! Will definitely give the 2-bucks-chuck a run for their money.
